Darwin. Wallace. Walwin?

It’s the 150th anniversary of the day Darwin was forced to show his hand. Sweet innocent Alfred Russel Wallace sent a letter that said ‘I’ve noticed something interesting’ and this is the anniversary of the day shortly thereafter when the two had their papers read at the Linnean Society Meeting. I wonder how often contemporary professionals finally decide they have enough data only because some other researcher or young-pup grad student is about to beat them to announcing something interesting?

Check out the Beagle Project for more information about this subtly important day.
